Ceramite Overview (Products specially developed for hot wear applications)

It will come as no surprise to you when we say that Ferrous processing plant will always be subject to significant abrasion and wear.

As early as 1994 Ceramite has been used in the industry to overcome abrasion / wear on various parts of plant in the manufacturing process. Ceramite significantly extends plant life and in some instances has been shown to extend plant life more than four times.

Around the world Ceramite is used by hundreds of  Ferrous and non-Ferrous processing plants. If you are not already using the Ceramite solution in your factory, you too could join the many satisfied clients using this product.

Wear resistant with refractory properties
CERAMITE RETAINS ITS STRENGTH AND PROPERTIES TO VERY HIGH WORKING TEMPRESURES AS SHOWN ABOVE LEFT, AS WELL AS IN APPLICATIONS ON RIGHT.

Metal industries like the Ferous, Aluminium, Zinc, Nickel, Copper and the Cement industry have temperature's in the range of 1000 to 1500 degrees (°C).

In these environments, Ceramite is regarded as an advanced solution compared to refractory materials due to its high mechanical strength and abrasion resistance. For Cold Wear, less than 250 degrees C, Ceramite also has unique properties towards wear abrasion. Ceramite grades are available for temperatures above 1500 degrees (°C). The Ceramite product family consists of both precast parts and mortar formulated to give superior performance in applications where wear and heat resistance are critical operating factors.

Supplied as parts, Ceramite is cast in a wide range of shapes and sizes with the finished products exhibiting exceptional dimensional stability. The Ceramite grades cover demanding applications in ferrous / non-ferrous industries, aluminium, cement and other industrial areas with severe abrasion / erosion.

Most Ceramite grades are available in trowelable and self flowing qualities as well as standard vibrating castables.

Examples of precast components are:
Floor Tiles, Aliminium Crucible Linings, Aluminium Cast House Furnace Hearth-Block segments, Furnace Door Segments, Valves, Cement Plant Tertiary Air Ducts Dampers and Burners, Electrical Insulators for All Industries, Coal, Gas and Oil Burner Blocks, Mine Back Fill Pipes, Furnace Feed Pipes and Cold Wear Pipe Bends etc.

Examples of Ceramite Mortar Applications are:
Towelling of Cyclones in all industries, e.g. Ferro-Chrome, Ferro-Manganese, Cement Plants, Ferro-Alloy Furnace Feed Pipes and Power Station Ash Channels.

General motivating factors for use of Ceramite applications are:

Increased lifetime
Preventing metal-contamination in the Aluminium and Zinc Industries
Reducing downtime, installation time and thus operational costs
Increasing production volume capacities and efficiency

Here is a bag plant cyclone lined with Ceramite BCR trowelable. This ceramite was installed at bag plant 3 and 4 during mid 2005 and has proved to be very successful. After 2 and a half years an inspection showed only a few minor wear areas had to be patched.
